dumbo street improvement project

Located on Brooklyn’s most photographed street, the DUMBO Street Improvement project required an adaptable design that could meet the daily changes in street usage.  A set of modular benches and planters were developed to disassemble, reassemble, and move to accommodate selfies, concerts, neighborhood events, and occasional car traffic in the off-hours.  The platforms provide ample space for visitors to sit down and the locals a spot to eat lunch.  Inspired by the area’s history, the idea of stackable units recalls the former era of organized factory production and assembly. Morgan was the Project Lead while working at BIG Architecture.
