quarried garden
Once a working limestone quarry, the site’s history of excavation shapes the design’s material language and aesthetic. Exposed stone, carved edges, and stratified textures echo the site’s geologic past—informing pathways, seating, and paving expression. Planting draws from the meadows of the Edwards Plateau—resilient, biodiverse, and uniquely Texan. A mix of native grasses, perennials, and woody plants evokes the open, sunlit character of the Hill Country, thriving in thin, dry soils.
By weaving the raw geometry of the quarried land with the soft resilience of the Hill Country meadow, the design creates something singular—a landscape both sculpted and wild. Stone and plant speak in contrast and harmony, forming a garden that is rooted in place, yet reimagined.
